Mount of Excellence – Palpung Sherabling Monastery

Project Name: Mount of Excellence Location: Himalayas, Palpung Sherabling Monastery Subject: Tai Situpa, one of the oldest lineages of tulkus in the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism.

Brief: The goal of this documentary was to capture the life, teachings, and spiritual significance of Tai Situpa, an emanation of Bodhisattva Maitreya and Guru Padmasambhava, who has been incarnated numerous times since the era of the historical Buddha. We filmed at the Palpung Sherabling Monastery, situated in the majestic Himalayas, to bring viewers an in-depth look at the revered Buddhist figure and the monastery's serene, spiritual environment.

Process:

Research & Planning: Extensive research was conducted on the Tai Situpa lineage and Tibetan Buddhism. The filming schedule was organized around key events at the monastery to authentically portray the life of Tai Situpa.

Filming on Location: The documentary was shot on location in the Himalayas, capturing the breathtaking natural landscape of Palpung Sherabling Monastery. We filmed Tai Situpa’s daily activities, rituals, and teachings, as well as interviews with monks and disciples.

Post-Production: In editing, we focused on creating a narrative that intertwined Tai Situpa’s spiritual journey with the monastery’s role as a center for Tibetan Buddhism. The final product was a long-form documentary, weaving stunning visuals with profound insights into the tradition.

This project was a spiritual and visual exploration, designed to highlight the rich history of the Tai Situpa lineage and its ongoing influence in Tibetan Buddhism.
