Get Together – A Global Lockdown Family Video

Project Name: Get Together Concept: A heartwarming video showcasing a family connecting, cooking, and enjoying a virtual "get together" during the global COVID-19 lockdown. Shot in four different locations across the world, the goal was to create a seamless narrative that captured the essence of family unity despite physical distance.

Brief: During the COVID-19 pandemic, the idea was to show how families could still bond and celebrate despite being apart. I directed and edited this project remotely, combining footage from four different locations to produce a cohesive story that evoked warmth, togetherness, and resilience during challenging times.

Process:

Conceptualization: I developed the idea of a family "getting together" virtually during lockdown, sharing moments like cooking and eating, which are typical of in-person gatherings.

Remote Coordination: Since the video was shot in four different parts of the world, I worked with local teams and family members to guide the filming process remotely. This involved detailed instructions on camera angles, lighting, and capturing natural moments that could be woven together later.

Footage Collection: Each location filmed their part of the family’s day – from prepping a meal to enjoying it over video calls. This allowed for a natural flow, as if they were together in the same space.

Editing: In post-production, I brought all the footage together using DaVinci Resolve, carefully stitching clips from different time zones and settings into one continuous narrative. I focused on seamless transitions, color matching across scenes, and blending the different backdrops into a cohesive story.

Music & Sound Design: To enhance the emotional tone, I incorporated a soft, uplifting soundtrack along with natural sounds like cooking, laughing, and conversation. The audio tied together the video’s message of unity.

Final Delivery: The final product was a seamless video where the family appeared to be interacting as if they were all in the same place, cooking and celebrating the "get together" despite the lockdown. The video was delivered in HD format, ready for sharing online and with family members.
