Overview

After successfully enhancing the online presence of several artists affiliated with The Seventh Art Gallery, they approached me to design and develop a dynamic e-commerce website. The goal was to showcase and sell their artists’ work while promoting the gallery’s products, services, and overall brand.

Challenges

The Seventh Art Gallery, a small Spanish business, initially had little to no online presence, with their design language limited to a basic logo. Establishing the right product variations was a gradual, collaborative process—ranging from framed versus unframed pieces to original works versus prints, and multiple print sizes. The primary challenge was designing a website that not only showcased their artists' stunning creations but also provided a seamless and intuitive purchasing experience.

My Role

As the designer and developer, my key responsibilities included:
· Defining the design vision through thorough research and stakeholder interviews.
· Designing wireframes and interactive prototypes for around six key pages, including a smooth and user-friendly e-commerce flow.
· Establishing a UI/UX process aligned with the project’s goals and the gallery’s brand identity.
· Developing the website, implementing best practices in web development, and integrating engaging site animations.

The Process

Discovery and Research To fully understand The Seventh Art Gallery’s vision, I conducted in-depth research on their brand, competitors, and target audience. The objective was to strike a balance between simplicity and vibrancy—allowing the artwork to take center stage while creating a design that was engaging and fitting for an art gallery.
Wireframing Guided by the research insights, I developed low-fidelity wireframes to outline the structure and layout of key pages. This phase focused on organizing content and navigation to ensure a seamless and intuitive user experience.
Design Building upon the wireframes, I created high-fidelity mockups that translated the vision into a clean, modern design. The emphasis was on intuitive interactions, with a thoughtfully curated color palette, typography, and imagery that reflected professionalism, creativity, and innovation.
Collaboration I collaborated closely with the gallery’s owner and artists to refine the design and address any technical limitations. Continuous feedback loops ensured that the project remained aligned with the vision and goals at every stage of development.

The Results

The redesigned website, currently in development at www.seventh-art-gallery.com, has successfully achieved its key objectives: A clean, modern, and professional design that embodies The Seventh Art Gallery’s brand values. An enhanced user experience, making it effortless for visitors to explore and purchase artwork while discovering the gallery’s full range of products and services.
