Control iD is a technology company focused on access control, identification and security solutions, developing devices that combine hardware, software and industrial design for corporate and commercial environments.

Control iD — iDBlock Next

A 3D product film created to present Control iD’s access-control hardware through a more cinematic, technical and premium visual language.
The challenge was to translate complex features and industrial design into a presentation that felt clear, engaging and visually sophisticated, while preserving the functional and technical nature of the product.
To achieve this, I developed the project through a complete 3D production workflow, combining 3D visualization, motion design, art direction and product storytelling:

Modeling → UVs → Shading → Lighting → Animation → Rendering → Compositing

Each stage was carefully built to improve realism, readability and visual consistency — taking the project from raw geometry to the final composed frame.

Shading & Lighting

Using V-Ray, I developed materials and lighting to achieve a realistic yet polished product-film aesthetic, working with reflection, refraction, roughness and surface response. Global Illumination and HDR dome lighting helped shape the product and create controlled reflections, while ambient occlusion, anti-aliasing and render settings were refined for clean edges and detailed close-ups.

Script & Storyboard

Before animation, I studied the product, its features and key business differentiators to define what needed to be communicated and how each benefit should appear on screen. From this structure, I developed the script and storyboard using still renders of the key poses and camera angles, allowing the narrative, framing and feature sequence to be reviewed before moving into full animation. This created clear approval stages with the client, reduced unnecessary revisions and made the production workflow faster and more efficient.

Animation & Camera Language

Animation was built using control nulls and organized scene rigs, keeping movements flexible, precise and easy to refine throughout production. Timing was developed with attention to frame rate, FPS, easing, anticipation and motion rhythm, applying animation principles to create smoother and more intentional transitions.
Camera work was also treated as part of the storytelling, combining static shots, controlled movements, visual counterpoints and transitions between scenes to guide attention and connect product features. The result was a more cinematic and high-performance visual language, balancing clarity, rhythm and technical precision.

Editing & Post-Production

The final composition was built in After Effects, using separate 3D render passes to provide greater control over elements such as ambient occlusion, reflections, color and global illumination. The post-production stage also included editing, color refinement, soundtrack integration, animated lettering and motion graphics, bringing all visual and audio elements together into the final film. The project was then exported in multiple formats and aspect ratios for different communication and distribution channels.

Final Result

The final film brings together 3D modeling, shading, lighting, animation, rendering, post-production and storytelling to transform technical hardware into a clear and engaging product experience.
More than a final render, the project showcases the complete process behind a 3D product film — from raw geometry to final delivery, balancing technical precision, cinematic language and product communication.
