Nokia is one of the most renowned brands in the telecommunications industry, globally recognized for its innovation in design, technology, and user experience.

To promote the Nokia Lumia 1020, our goal was to highlight its reinvented zoom in a creative and impactful way. We wanted to surprise the audience by showcasing the precision and detail that the Lumia 1020’s new zoom could capture.

To convey this idea, we developed a bold concept: revealing the Venus de Milo sculpted on the tip of a pencil. This visual metaphor merged art and technology, symbolizing the Lumia 1020’s meticulous eye and connecting the audience to a universal icon of beauty and perfection.

I actively participated in every stage of the project, from concept and storyboard to final delivery. I modeled the sculpture in ZBrush, working on retopology, texturing, and aesthetic fidelity. In Cinema 4D, I created shaders and lighting to emphasize subtle details, and finalized the animation with rendering in V-Ray.

Beyond modeling, I worked on scene setup, reveal animation, and lookdev, crafting an elegant and refined atmosphere. The use of light and shadow was essential to enhance the sense of discovery, while post-production added a cinematic finish to the piece.

The animation was designed as a layered revelation, beginning with dramatic close-ups of graphite blocks, lit in an almost enigmatic way. Gradually, the camera moves closer as the stone-like texture transforms before the viewer’s eyes, ultimately unveiling the iconic Venus de Milo sculpted on the tip of a pencil. This cinematic approach created impact, curiosity, and a sense of surprise that reinforced the campaign’s core message.

The result was a memorable campaign that clearly and emotionally communicated “Nothing gets you closer.” The Venus de Milo metaphor surprised the audience, conveying precision, beauty, and innovation — and elevating the product into an icon of design and technology.
