Understanding the problem.

Primary Research.
 Traders at Corpay spend a big portion of the working hours producing analyses and formulating hedging strategies for their clients. Based on client interviews that I conducted and Customer Success feedback, transparency with the process in formulating these hedging strategies has proved to gain trust and loyalty.
Macro Environment.
An increasing number of corporations planning for global expansion and overseas corporate transactions also suggests a parallel growth in the foreign exchange market.

“Netflix revealed in its Q2 financial results that its failure to “hedge its revenue with derivatives,” according to Reuters, led the company to lower its 2018 operating margin expectations to the lowerend of it’s 10 percent to 11 percent projections."
An increasing number of corporations planning for global expansion poses a gradually prominent market gap for a product that assists corporations with their hedging analyses and decisions.

Stakeholders.

Competitors
. There are tools that hone in on different aspects of the decision-making process of hedging, to assist traders but the current market gap proposes scalable prospect interests and opportunities in a bespoke and transparent solution that is scalable for Cambridge. Business Goals. 
All hedging strategies have been manually produced and presented in-person at Cambridge. A platform that will standardize the analysis and formulate exposure reduction strategies on a client by client basis will not only save traders at Cambridge a lot of time but also allow for transparency in the process and allow for exponential upscaling of their client base.
Users. Interviews traders at Cambridge showed that a majority of clients are in upper management of the finance departments, such as Chief Financial Officers or Vice President of Finance.

Approaching the problem.

Plan. From a high-level perspective, the product takes the client through a 4 step process — 1) Profile — data capture, 2) Analysis of provided data, 3) Strategy — hedge strategies based on user decisions and 4) Execution - potential hedge outcomes.

Challenges.

User Availability & Sensitive Information. Our target users for this application were not easy to get a hold of due to busy schedules and the nature of the job. Considering that the information on their hedging proportions and financial profile being quite sensitive, I worked closely with customer success, sales and traders for the interviews.
By Law. It is prohibited to provide trade advisory in many countries. All aspects of the application, including language used, structure and processes; were carefully designed to avoid leading the user into any decisions but rather provide them full transparency of the analyses based on data they had input themselves.
