What To Write In A Notebook

Figuring out what to write in a notebook can be tricky, whether it's the anxiety of making the first page flawless or wanting to give your notebook the perfect theme. Everyone has those beautiful, empty notebooks lying around. Here are some ideas on how to utilise them creatively.

Start A Diary

Diaries are as old as the written word itself. Writing a diary is a brilliant way to organise your thoughts and chronicle the daily (or whenever you desire to because there are no rules for journaling) happiness in your life and vent a little if you need it. Journaling positively affects your life because it inspires creativity, relieves stress and can help you achieve your goals. The benefits of writing a diary are endless. Using writing prompts to start with if you're stuck on where to start is helpful. Some of my favourites are: How did you spend your last birthday? Describe what made you feel good this week. What is the funniest memory you have? What has upset you recently, and how can you use this to grow?

To-Do Lists

Writing to-do lists helps to stop life from getting on top of us and gives us that motivation to be productive. Having a checklist of everything you need to complete takes away the stress. You could add flair to your to-do lists and make them look extra pretty while getting a sense of achievement as you tick off items.

Write Love Letters To Yourself

Give yourself all the praise and appreciation you deserve in charming love letters to your future self to read once you've finished your notebook. Document all the life lessons you're learning along the way in delightful letters that you can look back at or even reflect on how far you've come.

Book Reviews

Writing book reviews for yourself can be an excellent way to discover who you are as a reader. It can help you figure out your favourite genre, who your favourite authors are and what you like and dislike while reading. And if your TBR (to be read) list is longer than the books themselves, like mine is, writing book reviews can help you decide which book you'd like to read. A section you could add to your reviews is 'Favourite Quotes', a sweet way to commemorate your favourite books.

Scrapbooking

A scrapbook is a journal for memories. Scrapbooking is the perfect way to have all your photos in one place that you can look back on while having a creative outlet. Similarly to writing a diary, there are no rules. You can design it in any way you'd like to celebrate the memories you've made. A nice add-on could be annotating each photo or collection of photos with your thoughts and feelings at the time.

Calligraphy

Calligraphy is a beautiful way to level up your notebook and is something you can use to spruce up any of the ideas above. In addition, calligraphy is an art form with many perks. For example, learning calligraphy does wonders for mental health because it provides focus and calm, so even if you have writer's block, you can still use your notebook beneficially. This is also a fab excuse to buy more stationery!
