OVERVIEW
Komarov Clothing is a premium women's fashion brand founded by Hollywood costumer Shelley Komarov. Known for their signature hand-pleated, wrinkle-free garments designed for elegance and ease, the brand needed a complete D2C e-commerce transformation - moving from wholesale dependency to a fully owned, high-converting Shopify storefront that matched their upscale identity.
As the developer on this project, I was responsible for designing and building the complete Shopify store - custom theme development, multi-currency setup, collection architecture, and conversion optimization - all tailored to their core audience of women 40+.

MY ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
I served as the Shopify developer and front-end lead, responsible for the full build from theme setup to launch.
1. Custom Shopify Theme Development Built a fully custom Shopify theme using the Out of the Sandbox Turbo framework as a foundation, customizing it extensively to match Komarov's premium brand aesthetic. Implemented editorial-style homepage banners, clean product grid layouts, and a sophisticated navigation system with multi-level dropdowns for Shop by Category, Shop by Collection, and Sale sections.
2. Collection & Catalog Architecture Structured the entire product catalog across categories including Dresses, Dress/Jacket Sets, Jackets, Tops/Blouses, and Bottoms. Built curated collections for special occasions - Day Dresses, Wedding Guest, Mother of the Bride, Special Occasion, and Evening Gowns. Configured New Arrivals and Best Sellers automated collections. Set up the full tiered Sale section with 30-50% Off, 60-75% Off, and Clearance categories.
3. Multi-Currency & International Setup Implemented multi-currency support covering USD, CAD, AUD, GBP, EUR, and JPY - enabling Komarov to serve their international customer base without friction at checkout.
4. Lookbook & Content Sections Built a dedicated seasonal Lookbook section with individual pages for Spring 2025, Fall/Holiday 2024, Summer 2024, and Spring 2024 - giving the brand an editorial content hub to showcase new collections in a lifestyle context.
5. Conversion Optimization Implemented a sitewide free shipping banner, custom-made product processing time notices, newsletter popup with 10% first-order discount incentive, and clear size guide and care information pages. Configured easy returns and exchanges flow, order tracking page, and FAQ section to reduce customer service friction and increase purchase confidence.
6. Mobile-First Responsive Design Delivered a fully responsive experience optimized for mobile shoppers, ensuring the premium look and feel translated perfectly across all screen sizes.

DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Phase 1 - Brand & Catalog Discovery Worked closely with the Komarov team to understand their brand positioning, target customer, and catalog complexity. Reviewed their existing wholesale presence to extract brand assets, photography style, and tone. Mapped out the full collection and category architecture before writing a single line of code.
Phase 2 - Theme Build & Design System Set up the Turbo theme framework and began customizing it to Komarov's identity - typography, color palette, spacing, and layout all aligned to their premium positioning. Built the homepage section by section, starting with the hero banners and working through category showcases, brand story sections, and testimonials.
Phase 3 - Catalog & Collection Setup Configured all product collections, metafields, and catalog structure. Set up the automated New Arrivals and Best Sellers collections, manual curated collections for occasions, and the full tiered sale architecture. Built and connected the Lookbook content pages.
Phase 4 - Conversion Features & Integrations Implemented all conversion-focused elements - shipping banner, processing time notices, newsletter popup, size guide, care pages, FAQ, and order tracking. Configured multi-currency support and tested checkout flows across all six currencies.
Phase 5 - QA, Performance & Launch Conducted full cross-browser and cross-device QA across the entire store. Ran performance audits and resolved all load time issues - critical for fashion e-commerce where image-heavy pages must still load fast. Delivered a fully tested, launch-ready store.
