Fermentation is not only the preparation of food, but also a metaphor for social change.

It is also activism that develops a deeper connection to communities and cultivates new forms of expression and collaboration. A significant topic for the study of social and cultural transformation.

Concept

The concept is based on the idea of the ‘Sour Collective’, a collective that deals with social fermentation, the promotion of community spirit and cohesion. Their main tasks include the organisation of events and community activities that address topics that also involve other communities. Fermentation is used as a community tool. The concept is ongoing and updatable, which means that the events and content of the collective are regularly adapted and updated.

Design

Given the often experimental and unpredictable nature of fermentation, the principles of fermentation were also applied to the design. To emphasise the complexity of the subject matter, each medium is given its own style. The font as a connecting element makes each part appear as a unit, both individually and as a whole. It is used differently and experimentally, reflecting the imperfection of microorganisms.
