University of Papua (UNIPA)

Project Overview

This project aims to develop a modern, user-friendly, and engaging website that effectively represents the University of Papua's values and vision while improving accessibility and communication for students, faculty, and the wider community.

Project Objectives:

Improved User Experience: Provide clear navigation, intuitive menus, and a visually appealing design optimized for both desktop and mobile devices.
Enhanced Information Accessibility: Streamline access to academic programs, admissions, research publications, event calendars, campus news, and contact information.
Community Engagement: Incorporate features such as online event registrations, interactive campus maps, alumni network portals, and possibly discussion forums to foster communication among students, staff, and partners.
Strengthened Outreach: Highlight compelling stories, achievements, and initiatives to attract prospective students, collaborators, and stakeholders.
Content Management: Implement an easy-to-use content management system (CMS) to empower UNIPA staff to update content regularly without specialized web development knowledge.

Pain Points to Address

Outdated Design and Navigation: The current website’s design is not visually appealing, making it difficult for users to navigate and find relevant information. A modern design with intuitive navigation will be essential to enhance user experience.
Difficulty Accessing Key Information: Important information about academic programs, admissions, and campus updates is currently scattered and difficult to locate. This project will streamline access to essential content and make it more organized and accessible.
Lack of Mobile Responsiveness: The existing website is not optimized for mobile devices, leading to poor user experience for a significant portion of users who access the site via smartphones and tablets. The new website will be fully responsive and adaptable across all devices.
Inconsistent Content Updates: The current content management system (CMS) is cumbersome and requires specialized knowledge, leading to delays in updating content. An improved CMS will allow staff with minimal technical skills to update content quickly and easily.
Limited Community Interaction: The existing website does not effectively facilitate communication between students, faculty, alumni, and community partners. Introducing features like discussion forums, event registrations, and volunteer sign-ups will help bridge this gap.
Low Search Engine Visibility: The current website is not optimized for search engines, making it difficult for potential students and partners to find UNIPA online. Integrating SEO best practices will enhance visibility and outreach.

Target Audience

Current Students & Faculty: Users seeking updates, resources, and essential academic information.
Prospective Students & Parents: Individuals looking for detailed information about academic programs, admissions, and campus life.
Community Partners & Stakeholders: Local organizations, government agencies, potential collaborators, and the public interested in UNIPA’s research and initiatives.

Scope of Work

Website Strategy & Planning: Define project goals, content structure, and design direction in alignment with UNIPA's vision.
Web Design: Develop wireframes, mockups, and the final design reflecting the institution’s branding and identity.
Web Development: Build the website using a suitable CMS (e.g., WordPress, Joomla) tailored to UNIPA’s needs.
Content Migration/Creation: Transfer existing content and create new material (text, images, videos) as required.
SEO Optimization: Implement basic SEO best practices to improve search engine visibility and attract a broader audience.
Testing & Launch: Conduct thorough testing across devices/browsers and manage a smooth website launch.
Training: Provide training for UNIPA staff on how to manage and update the website content.
