Subject Line: Do You Think It’s Possible?
I don’t know where it came from, but this was the first week where I’ve felt like the big goals I’ve set myself are genuinely possible. And to be honest, I think there are a selection of reasons why that’s the case.
First of all, I have noticed that I’ve pushed my limits more than I ever thought was previously possible. With CrossFit, for example, I have made significant progress over the past month or so – and that’s with just a couple of tweaks. Why, I’ve been thinking to myself, can I not transfer that to my business?
Part of it could also be that I have now given myself a very clear mission: to help and inspire others who want to live a life of freedom with the content I put out.
If you listened to my podcast episode earlier this week, you’ll have heard what was effectively a rant about the idea of “being realistic”. From an early age, this poisonous thought holds back so many people.
Do you know what the saddest thing is, though? Many of those individuals don’t realise how much room they have for growth. Think about it this way: Society sets very low expectations for many of us.
Go to university ➡️ Get a “good” job ➡️ Climb the corporate ladder ➡️ Repeat points 2 and 3 until a date in the future when you can’t enjoy the fruits of your labor
That is about it for many of us. What’s the reaction when you tell someone that you want to start a business, or you’d like to do something outside of an ordinary job? You’re probably met with some kind of scoffing.
Here’s the thing, though: Being realistic is not an option in the modern world.
“Being realistic” has, over the past few years:
Resulted in people losing jobs that they previously thought were safe
Led to many people struggling to afford basics like food and utilities
With the internet, we’re blessed with all the resources we need to make something of ourselves and bring our ideas to life. What’s realistic for everyone is nothing more than a portrayal of what they think about themselves. And to be brutally honest, many people don’t think that highly of themselves.
Before you achieve any of your dreams, you MUST change your mindset. It’s vital that you get out of this one-dimensional thinking that the only way you can succeed is if someone else presents you with opportunities. If nobody gives you a chance, you need to create it for yourself.
The main reason that your favorite creators’ success seems unattainable isn’t because it is. Oh no, it’s very much achievable. The reason theri success looks unattainable is because humans often look at the end result – without looking at the hard work that went on behind the scenes.
Your high-paying job won’t save you, as you’d know if you read my newsletter last week. Similarly, “being realistic” is a simple way of saying “I’m going to let my dreams die and live a life of misery because I was scared to grab life by the balls and make the opportunities I want”.

A useful tool to help you out

As you may have noticed from the website, I’m putting out a decent amount of content at the moment. Over the coming months, I’ll be going through the tools that have helped me in my creative journey – along with going over some that have not.
I would argue that the best tool I have ever used is Notion. It’s a note-taking app, but it’s more than that; it’s also a productivity suite of the highest order. You can check out my Notion review here.

What have I been up to this month?

Each month, I’m going to try something out where I share some of the things I’ve been doing with my client. This is partially to give you an insight into my life, but it’s also to maybe give you some ideas for routes you can go down in your own creative endeavors.
Here are some of my favorite articles that I’ve written in November:

Nuggets of wisdom…

If you want to succeed, look at people who’ve walked the path you want to and identify what made them successful.
History repeats itself, but it’s also a culmination of things that had “never happened before”. Just because someone hasn’t started that creative pursuit you want to do, does not mean it’s impossible.
Treat your life like a video game; it’s much more fun that way.
Anyway, that’s all for this week. See you in the next one!
