Suhasini Dokowry Designs Web Presence

This web presence is about my personal journey as a computer graphics design freelancer and my portfolio to showcase my works. I have opted for this subject for making this web presence assignment as I had in mind to make a portfolio website in the future and I could use this opportunity to start get started with it. The web presence consists of four pages and three contributing nodes. To make the web presence, first I have identified my area of interest and the subject on which my web presence will be based on which is my personal portfolio as a graphics design freelancer.I then considered the platform of building myweb presence and I chose Wix after visiting the Wix website to found out that one can create and build a web presence for free and there are tutorials shown to the creator for easier procedures. According to Wix, it provides free templates related to the category of the web presence which can be further edited and customized according to personal preferences by the creator in order to build a unique online presence. After trying some tutorials on Wix to get familiar with it, I decided to finalize Wix as the platform to build my web presence. To start, I came up with the business name and main header of the web presence “Suhasini Dokowry Designs” which is my full name and I added the “Designs” which indicates the relationship to Graphical Designs. The tagline “A freelancing journey” has been chosen to show that this web presence is about my personal freelancing journey. As I had to choose a logo image for this web presence, I made a personal branding logo consisting of my portrait and the written contents “Suhasini Dokowry” and “Design Portfolio”. I set the size of the logo image small as medium size was taking more space of the header. Then to complete the fixed Header, I included a site menu and contributing nodes of the related social accounts. The web presence’s layout consists of 4 main pages such as the About page, CV, My work and Contact. “Loft” is the theme of the web presence which has been chosen due to its understated and cool characteristic and properties of a clean slate with boundless possibilities. Though, further modifications have been made related to the “Loft” color theme in order to match with my brand logo color. For instance, the main color theme of this web presence is #591104 color which is known as Red Oxide. To complement this darker shade color, I chose a lighter color #9d7168 known as Dark Chestnut and White background to give the pages a chic look. The fonts that have been used on all the pages are part of the “Loft Family” fonts which is a typeface family of extremes and is distinctive, versatile and always intriguing (Monotype, 2012).The font color used on the pages are Red Oxide, Black and White for ease of communications and in consideration of the background color.

The main page of the web presence is the “About Page” which is the first page of the web presence. The “About Page” consist of 5 sections which give a great insight of my introduction and journey, small portfolio view and how to get in touch with me. As the “About Page” is very important for this web presence due to the first impression it will make on the viewer, I chose the first section of the page to be about the introduction of “Suhasini Dokowry Designs” to welcome the viewer and give them a small overview of this website. The second section includes ta picture of myself and my bio to introduce myself. The next section is about my freelancing journey’s story which is very important for the theme of this web presence to show how my journey started. Followed by this, I included a “My Portfolio” section which highlights a bit on my work accompanied by a sliding show of some of the works which I have done. The last section is the “Get in Touch” which is important for me as I believe in networking and would want those who want to know more about me, my work or want to collaborate on future work to reach out to me. This section includes my contributing social nodes and my business email.

The next 2 pages are about my CV and Work which are also related to the theme of this web presence. The CV page consist of a single main section which shows the details of my professional history till now. I wanted to include these details as I want to show the viewer of my area of expertise, past and present experiences which is related to my graphics design skills. Hence, in this section, I included all my professional experience details related to the computer graphics industry and freelancing journey only as I want to be to the point and in line to the subject of this web presence. The details of my experience include, the duration of my work, my title at the organizations, the tasks which I have been doing and skills which I developed so that the viewer can have a better insight of my experiences so far. The next page, “My Work” has been inspired by the gallery view on my phone which showcase some of my work. This page shows the showcasing pictures in a gallery view which will allow the viewer to also click on each picture to zoom in. Also, all these works are personal works created by myself.

The last page of this web presence is the “Contact” page which includes only one section highlighting details on how to get in touch with me by the contributing social nodes, my business email and sending a message on the message box. Also, on all the pages there is the “Let’s chat” option found at the bottom right of each page which still allow the viewer to get in touch with me or would like to chat. Further, the most important part of this contact page is the contributing modes which are also found after the “Contact” page on the header. While considering the contributing nodes, I reflected on my Internet Footprints which is very important for this web presence. Internet Footprints is how we contribute to our online presence and present ourselves there which can have both positive and negative effects depending on our actions, Week 9 (Evans 2021, slide 3-6). On this note, I considered my Internet Footprints as well as my Digital Shadows as I want to be authentic and real to others. Henceforth, upon analyzing both important aspect, I created an Instagram Professional Account dedicated to my freelancing graphics design as through this Instagram account, others will be able to connect with me and my work as Instagram is a great communication and marketing Web 2.0. By having, this Instagram account as one of the contributing nodes, the viewer will be able to connect with directly for business and work related purpose. However, the two other contributing nodes are my personal Facebook and LinkedIn account where people can connect with me and reach out to me for networking purposes as my Digital Shadow on LinkedIn and Facebook are more professional. Overall, I believe this web presence and my contributing nodes reflect my theme, journey and area of interest.
