Smile Fest 2025 Figure Announcements

Make room on your shelves, Smile Fest 2025 announced some amazing upcoming figures, and yes most of them are Hatsune Miku. When I went to the Good Smile, Smile Fest website, I thought the page read my mind and auto searched Hatsune Miku figures for me. There are 11 featured Miku figures not including Nendoroids.
Out of the abundance of Miku’s my favorite is the café Miku because of the glasses, unique pigtails, and her tea pot and cup. Something about small tea sets always captures my attention. I also find Miku figures have more personality and stand out when her pigtails aren’t just stagnant normal. It’s not all Miku though, Teto is surprisingly making what feels like a comeback recently ever since Memorizer and is receiving a basic full-sized figure. The whole original Vocaloid family is receiving some sort of recognition with 2.0 Nendoroid versions being released for Megurine Luka, Kaito, Meiko, Ren, and Lin. I personally wish Luka and the twins were receiving more full-scale figures. If we’re getting a World is Mine Miku- which is in the lineup- we should also get a Just Be Friends Luka. She would be so pretty. There will also be Tactical Miku release, and it feels like a Love is War nod.
There were a lot of figures of note to highlight in the very large lineup. Especially because I saw some figures that sort of surprised me. There’s a fandom for everything though and if someone will buy it will be made into a figure. Some of the more obscure fandom figures will be someone else’s dream figure in the future.
Some of my obscure favorites include the two OMGKawaiiAngel figures from Needy Streamer Overload. I’m intrigued by the one that hasn’t been shown in color, it’s just a concept model currently. It has OMGKawaiiAngel coming out of a computer window. Persona fans are spoiled this year not only the announcement of the Persona 4 Revival teaser recently shown during the Xbox Games Showcase, but two concept figures have been released during Smile Fest. There is a concept figure for both the persona 3 and 5 protagonists in their dance attire. The figures go together with their poses making them touch elbows when they’re close enough and that’s awesome. I also like that the bases say HERO and look like a stage, I’m excited to see them in color. Serial Experiments Lain is an anime I’ve never seen, but I’ve seen dissected a lot recently. I can’t think of any recent merch for this older series, so I’m sure Lain Iwakuma’s figure release will be well received. The wildest out of left field figure release to me is the Protect Gear from the anime film The Wolf Brigade. The figure looks intimidating and if they get the glowing red eyes right it would stick out in any collection.
Smile Fest is a bigger event than I realized. At first, I thought it was just a one-day announcement for new figures, maybe a blog post, but Smile Fest is a whole convention! Running from Thursday to Sunday and this year they streamed parts of the event over on YouTube. It was all in Japanese. Showing off figures was a big piece of the livestreams, but there were also interviews and discussion about the different media that inspired the figures. Now that I know more about Smile Fest I’m planning on catching some of the livestreams next year. If you’d like to see the livestreams for yourself, you can find them on YouTube at GoodsmileJP.
