Automated Subscription Renewel Emails

Managing subscription renewals is vital for businesses offering recurring services, as timely reminders can significantly improve customer retention. To address this challenge, I developed an automated email renewal notification system that sends reminders at key intervals before subscription expiration—specifically, 30 days, 15 days, 7 days, and 1 day before the renewal date.

Google Sheets: To store customer data, including names, email addresses, subscription expiry dates, and logs of sent emails.

Gmail: For sending automated renewal notifications to customers.

Shopify: To verify active subscriptions before sending reminders.

Make.com: For orchestrating the integration of all these components and automating the workflow.

1. Data Management: I utilized Google Sheets as the central database for customer information. This sheet calculated the remaining days until expiration and triggered email notifications accordingly.

2. Email Automation: Using Gmail, I set up automated emails personalized for each customer. These notifications included the customer's name, subscription details, and a direct renewal link to Shopify.

3. Subscription Validation: The system checked with Shopify to confirm whether a customer had an active subscription before sending reminders. This step prevented unnecessary emails to customers who had already renewed or canceled their subscriptions.

4. Orchestration with Make.com: Make.com integrated the entire process by triggering actions based on the data in Google Sheets. It would:

Check for impending subscription expirations.

Validate subscription status via Shopify.

Automatically send out renewal emails through Gmail.

Log all activities in Google Sheets, maintaining records of each email sent.

Automation: Eliminated the manual tracking of subscription renewals, allowing the business to focus on growth.

Timely Reminders: Customers received relevant reminders, reducing the likelihood of missed renewals.

Reduced Churn: Multiple reminders at different intervals improved renewal rates, helping to decrease customer churn.

Seamless Integration: The cohesive workflow ensured all components operated smoothly, enhancing reliability.
