Lessons of Life

Lessons can be learned from all aspects of life. The people we meet, the places we go, even the media we digest. It's our duty as humans to understand these lessons and learn from them. Sometimes you will be the lesson someone else needs, other times a lesson will be sent to you.

I learned a valuable lesson this weekend. Putting effort in does not always yield success. While having an optimistic view is always Important, I let my hopes get too high. As the motto goes, "The bigger they are, the harder they fall." I've found this statement to be true with emotions as well. Some pain in life is necessary to grow, it's just the natural order of things. This pain does not have to be in vain... Do your duty and learn your lesson. We must meticulously process everything that is thrown at us weather we want to or not.

"You cannot avoid what comes," - A quote from Neal Shusterman. Unfortunately, things take time. Nothing truly valuable in this life can be rushed; Haste in the heat of passion only leads to misdirection. Just as all things made from flesh and bone will heal with time, so will broken hearts. Here I sit wishing things weren't the way they are but after all... You cannot avoid what comes.

Next time your processing one of life's great lessons take your emotions into account. What you are feeling is necessary for your development. Are you scared? Then its time to be bold! Are you angry? Take a step back and acknowledge your wrath! Do you want what you don't need? Put aside your greed! Don't let yourself fall victim to envy; Be grateful for what you have! When you feel like your on top of the world; I beg you not to dwell in your pride. Don't let yourself feed into gluttony when your just bored, lust when your eyes deceive you, or sloth when you know deep down that you can succeed!
