John 12:45

Justice Jones

John 12:45
I still remember the days
When I’d lie on the ground, eyes closed,
Waiting for someone to save me,
Begging on my hands and knees for salvation
Looking up towards the infinite blue of the sky,
Only to find nothing.
But everyone else is waiting for Him, too.
The return of the all-powerful!
With His empty promises of Resurrection
Redemption, Reclamation.
Abiding by a creed left unfulfilled within The bleak,
Black Book.
Oh, how ignorant thou hast become!
There’s a reason we haven’t seen Him yet.
For He can only be envisioned by the blind
Those foolish enough to be forced into fallacy -
Fearful enough to fall for a farce -
Those unable to accept the inevitable.
Long gone are the days when I’d lie on the ground, eyes closed, waiting
Undoubtedly denying the disposition of the dying.
As I rose from the ground for the first time in years,
I opened my eyes and viewed my reflection
Finally seeing what the blind desperately pursued all along
Without a doubt,
He is Risen.

This is one of my favorite poems I've written! It's not that long, but it shows off my creative side. I published this poem and won multiple contests with it!
