The challenge
Travel recommendations online come either from strangers or stripped of context. Maps show pins. Review sites show ratings. Neither tells you whether a place fits the vibe you want, or whether someone whose taste you actually trust has been there.
Vela set out to fix that. The hard part was making it feel curated without making users do the curating.
What we built
Two-way Google Maps integration that imports saved places on signup
AI classification tagging category and feel automatically at 98% accuracy
City data rebuilt with geographic context so place names disambiguate cleanly
Web app and iOS app launched simultaneously
Connection of travellers with expert local concierges and community curators
Built in Bubble, with Google Maps integration and custom AI tagging.
