Talented young Africans do not have the network to access the opportunities they deserve. We want to change that.
Most job and investment opportunities were distributed through familiar networks.
Our approach then, was to scale up these communities into a central network of talented individuals willing to connect with each other to become high performers.
Product Requirements
Real world Insights
Our typical users should be people who experience the problem first hand, not some imaginary persona.
Ship fast and real
It was important that we we got strong feedbacks or pushbacks, as early as possible. This is achieved by building the product in a delightful shape early on, so that they immerse themselves in.
Personable
Users should feel like the product is always thinking about them
Shortlisted Ideas
During a design sprint, we shortlisted and sketched out some ideas for the product.
We borrowed some ideas from products like LaunchClub and LinkedIn, and closing the gaps left for our users. We also borrowed from Industry experts who shared their opinions from their experiences, during the user interviews.
How might we create a seamless experience, rather than a coagulation of features?
This was the first problem we faced, even when we rushed into creating the High fidelity UIs for the shortlisted features.
We were able to solve by abstracting the user journeys for a few users we interviewed.
It then became apparent as to where each feature would fit
Build better connections with weekly 1:1s
At the start of each week, people will setup their availability and be paired with someone with the same goals and interests.
Say you wanted to learn or share something around Web3, you would select your agendas and time-blocks. You’d meet up with someone with the same agenda that week and follow up on what ever was discussed!
The latest opportunities at your front door
Right on the homepage feed, you get to see the requests from members around the world.
These requests could be a job recommendation, investment opportunity, call for a collab. You can refer someone else for it.
After Hours in Creft
We knew that unwinding from a long 9-5 is a significant time for our users. Some said listening to a great podcast is their version of unwinding, some others mentioned Netflix, others (70%) mentioned hanging out with friends, virtually or physically.
This was even more impactful to them during the COVID 19 period, when they couldn’t go to hangout
with friends.
We kept it really simple; members will create a pod and wait for others to join in. We understood that most users would be tired at that time.
Impact
120+ 1:1 meetings created
70+ Job & Investment opportunities shared
30+ Referrals to opportunities
80%+ Members gained at least one connection
