3D PRODUCT VISUALIZATION AND DIGITAL ASSET CREATION
Oway, an Italian premium hair, face, and body cosmetics brand under the Rolland Group (established in 1948), approached us to revolutionize their product photography through cutting-edge 3D visualization. With an extensive product line featuring sophisticated glass packaging, Oway needed a scalable solution to create consistent, high-quality product imagery for their website and e-commerce platform.
As 3D Visualization Lead, I oversaw the complete digital transformation of Oway's product catalog, managing the end-to-end process from physical product analysis to final rendered assets. My role involved precise 3D modeling, advanced texturing techniques, and sophisticated lighting setup to capture the premium essence of over 100 cosmetic products. I worked closely with Oway's marketing team to ensure each render aligned with their brand standards and e-commerce requirements.
Process Overview
Product Analysis & Reference Collection
We began by receiving physical samples of Oway's entire product range, conducting detailed analysis of each item's unique characteristics. This hands-on approach allowed us to understand the intricate details of glass textures, label positioning, and material properties that would be crucial for creating photorealistic 3D models.
Precision 3D Modeling
Each product was meticulously modeled in 3D, paying careful attention to proportions, surface details, and packaging elements. We focused on capturing the elegant curves of bottles, the transparency and thickness of glass containers, and the precise placement of labels and caps. This foundation ensured that every digital asset would maintain the authentic look and feel of the physical products.
Advanced Texturing & Material Development
We developed sophisticated material shaders to accurately represent the diverse range of packaging materials in Oway's collection. Special attention was given to glass transparency, surface imperfections, and the interaction between different materials. The texturing process involved creating realistic label artwork, capturing the subtle variations in glass thickness, and replicating the premium finish of caps and dispensers.
Lighting Design & Render Optimization
A key advantage of 3D visualization emerged in our lighting approach. We designed controlled lighting setups that eliminated the common challenges of photographing glass products—unwanted reflections, inconsistent shadows, and color variations. This allowed us to maintain a cohesive visual language across the entire product range while highlighting each item's unique characteristics.
Digital Asset Production
The final phase involved rendering hundreds of high-definition product images with neutral backgrounds, optimized for e-commerce use. We also created a promotional teaser video to showcase the brand's premium positioning and product quality.
Final Deliverables
The project delivered a comprehensive digital asset library including over 100 photorealistic product renders, standardized lighting templates for future products, and a brand teaser video. All assets were optimized for web use while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
