Visual identity that brands architectural Avant-garde as the cultural code of the Urals
Context
Avant-Garde Territory is a cultural project dedicated to preserving and promoting the Ural region's constructivist architecture. The project aims to reimagine the perception of the Avant-garde movement, giving it a modern look and turning this cultural legacy into a key tourist attraction.
Approach
We designed a versatile identity that balances key Avant-garde principles with a modern approach, crafting a new vision that isn't overshadowed by its historical roots.
We combined bright colors and geometric shapes characteristic of the Avant-garde movement with modern neo-grotesque typography, featuring the iconic form of the region’s most famous constructivist building as the main graphic element.

The main graphic element — in a form of an arch — draws from the layout of the iconic Iset Hotel, a symbol of Constructivism in Yekaterinburg. This element is central to the identity, serving as a versatile form that can multiply, rotate, and create patterns. It also shapes the logo, transforming into a letter "A" (for Avant-Garde) or even a walking figure, highlighting the project's touristic focus.
