Mark Jason Solofa (MJS) Men’s Grooming is a premium barbershop and shave parlor seeking a bold, distinctive brand identity that reflects its Samoan heritage while maintaining a high-end appeal. The goal was to create a logo that balances playfulness with classic sophistication, ensuring it stands out in the U.S. men’s grooming industry. The design process incorporated research into traditional Samoan aesthetics, modern barbershop branding, and masculine yet refined visual elements.

The final logo features an interwoven “MJS” monogram with strong, geometric strokes, drawing inspiration from tribal patterns and structured typography. The letterforms incorporate sharp edges and a rhythmic flow, reflecting both tradition and contemporary style. The logo adapts seamlessly across digital and print mediums, from signage to social media icons, ensuring brand consistency. To further reinforce the premium positioning, I developed branding elements for stationery, including a sleek letterhead and business cards that complement the overall aesthetic.

The color palette consists of deep navy (#273043), slate gray (#9197AE), and black (#000000), which exude professionalism and masculinity. Lighter gray and soft blue (#EFF6EE) accents create contrast, preventing the brand from appearing too rigid. This monochromatic yet versatile scheme ensures that the brand remains timeless while maintaining a strong presence across different materials. The final brand identity captures MJS’s commitment to high-quality grooming services while celebrating cultural heritage in a bold, modern way.
