HealthBeats®+:  Native App Designed for Every Patient

Role & Highlights 🌟
Led the end-to-end UX and product design from concept to MVP in just 1 year, with a strong focus on usability, accessibility, and seamless patient–provider interactions.
Designed with an accessibility-first approach, making the app adaptable to all screen sizes and easy to use for elderly users aged 50–80.
Delivered a seamless vitals measuring experience enhanced by an innovative voice user interface (VUI) to support patients with diverse needs.

Challenge:

HealthBeats® pioneered one of the first proof-of-concept Remote Patient Monitoring apps back in 2019. 5 years later, the app had become outdated in both technology and user experience. Our product design team was tasked with a major challenge: redesigning and rebuilding the app natively for iOS and Android to provide a better quality of life for chronic patients—particularly elderly users who rely on it daily.

Approach:

Over 12 months, we reimagined the patient experience by applying key design principles that guided every decision:
Simplicity at the core – ensuring the app is intuitive and accessible, especially for elderly patients with limited digital literacy.
Seamless measuring experience – improving connectivity and reliability across multiple medical devices to reduce user frustration.
Voice-guided innovation – integrating voice instructions to support patients in completing measurements confidently, without relying on complex visual cues. We followed a structured design sprint process (details reserved for interview discussions), iterating closely with patients, healthcare providers, and engineers to ensure the final experience was both clinically robust and human-centered.

Outcome:

In just 12 months, we successfully launched HealthBeats®+, our first fully native app. The results:
Simplicity at the core – ensuring the app is intuitive and accessible, especially for elderly patients with limited digital literacy.
Seamless measuring experience – improving connectivity and reliability across multiple medical devices to reduce user frustration.
Voice-guided innovation – integrating voice instructions to support patients in completing measurements confidently, without relying on complex visual cues.
We are glad to be supporting Caregiving Welfare Association (CWA) in their remote monitoring and support programme. When the HealthBeats® team was onsite to support the deployment, we witness the need of our vulnerable seniors first hand which serves as a stark reminder to what we stand for. We need to have confidence in our seniors that they truly want to learn more about their health conditions and that they can adapt and adopt technology.
