Project Overview
This project explores the creation of Snapchat stickers and filters specifically tailored for the Indian audience. By focusing on cultural nuances such as food, pets, and friendship, the designs resonate with users, celebrating the "mahol" of everyday life in India.
Typography I chose hand-drawn lines and type to maintain a raw, authentic feel, reflecting the spontaneous nature of our daily snaps.
Color Scheme Inspired by Snapchat's vibrant yellow and its energetic vibe, I selected bold, primary colors to match that vibrancy, ensuring the stickers and filters align with the app's lively aesthetic.
What Challenges I faced: One of the primary challenges was ensuring clear communication between teams, particularly during the approval process. There were two rounds of clearance— one from the team at Kiblind Agency & the other from Snapchat. The difficulty laid in conveying the cultural nuances of phrases that made sense in Hindi & Punjabi but lost their meaning when directly translated into English. To address this, I created a word memo explaining the meaning of each sticker. This not only helped clarify the content during the approval process but also served as a useful reference for the teams whenever there were any doubts.
What I gained in return:
This project gave me the confidence to stand by my designs and trust my creative thinking. Successfully handling my first big project also helped me overcome self-doubt, especially as they extended my contract twice, keeping me on for extra months. It was incredibly rewarding to see my designs spark happy interactions and make even a small difference. And, of course, the financial reward was a nice bonus!
“These stickers and filters capture the spirit of Indian lingo. Our users love them.”
