Cera Care, a disruptive startup in the health industry was looking to digitize and automate the caregivers' routine home visit reports. They also wanted to give remote family members of their patient's visibility into the care of their loved ones.

Problem & Solution 🤝

Create a care giver app for a population that is not tech savvy and has been using paper forms until now to complete their visit reports.

Goals/Requirements:

Create an engaging digital form care givers will use to provide full and complete information of their visit.

Connect care givers with patient's family members for faster communication about the patient.

Connect care givers with Cera to give them a sense of support and care.

Process 🛣

As the sole UX/UI designer in the start of this project I conducted user interviews and tested the existing prototype created by Cera. Based on my research, I created personas, fixed key user flow issues and created new layouts that are user friendly and frictionless.

For the second phase, I oversaw the work of a creative agency hired to build the 2 apps. I would provide insights into the users and their challenges as well as feedback on final designs.

While the apps were being developed I redesigned the existing internal management system to include data gathered from the apps as well as introduced new features and optimized its overall usability.

Results 🎁

Cera care givers are now using the care giver app to provide both Cera and family members a fuller picture of a patient's care.

Family members are able to communicate with both Cera and the care givers with ease, keeping track of their loved ones.

Cera is able to use the data collected from the apps to predict patient deterioration and provide faster, better care for its patients.

Takeaways 📣

Getting to know the users of your product is key. Never assume they know how to use a mobile device and would find your design intuitive. Test, verify and iterate until your users are happy.
