Yemen — Food, Culture & Visual Storytelling
Made Offset
Yemeni food, one scene at a time
Yemen is a website about food and the culture around it. We built the page around overhead photographs of dishes, ingredients and table settings, with short pieces of text alongside them.
As you scroll, the setting changes from pale surfaces to weathered wood and darker backgrounds. Smaller photographs sit within the larger compositions, giving a closer look at the food and its surroundings.
One section focuses on Aseed, pairing a handwritten-style title with a short introduction to the dish. We used transitions between the compositions to carry the page forward without turning it into a conventional gallery.
The design brings together food photography, textures and typography. We handled the web development and animation with Next.js, React and GSAP.
Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS and GSAP.
