In starting his own new venture as a Fractional CTO helping companies integrate various technologies (yes, including AI), my longtime friend and colleague Chadsten Lowery needed a brand separate from himself that could grow as he and his clients do.
Over a fast and furious week we explored, created, approved, and refined a mark loosely based on the shape language of the initials C.V.C that would would also suggest growth, improvement, and precision, without falling (too much) into the cliches of "tech-branding".

The wordmark also split out "consulting" so that Carbon Valley could operate independently or swap consulting for other follow-ups in the future if the company grows to encompass additional business solutions.
With the logos approved we moved on to define the brand at large in the form of brand guidelines that outline typography, color, use cases, imagery, tone of voice in writing, and principles of layout.

Finally with a solid grip on the brand our efforts turned toward the creation of all the deliverables the brand would need to launch. Business cards, social media templates, presentation deck template, merch mockups, and most importantly, the new website. While we were working toward hitting a very tight timeline the client and I kept in constant communication, often forgoing video calls to quick Discord messages in order to stay aligned as we worked through the overall vision and the smaller details.

The homepage of Carbon Valley Consulting was very intentionally kept simple. For clients with overwhelmingly complex technical issues, we wanted CVC to feel like a port in the storm. A calm and bright place where clients can take a deep breathe, get support, and put down the weight of the problems they've been carrying.

The tone of voice is friendly, casual, confident, and almost cheeky at times. Our belief was that people have had enough of the safe, bland, corporate marketing speak. People want something that they can connect to and relate with. It doesn't need to be over the top or crass. Even small bits of humanity and humor go a long way in today's fully sanitized online world.

The website launched in early June of 2026, and the business is already starting to gain traction. So while at the time of this writing it's too early to include success metrics, I'm thrilled with the brand we were able to build in under a month. And thankfully, Carbon Valley is too.

BIG thanks to Nathan Weston for such a kick-ass brand and web design. We absolutely love it! Nate did a phenomenal job from start to finish, and I'm excited to keep working with him.
