Procursea: From Replit to Production

Jake, a UK founder in the superyacht industry, came to me with a product he had already built on Replit. It was ambitious and well thought out: a platform to run the entire procurement and inventory operation of a superyacht in one place. The foundation was strong, but Jake had hit a wall. Features were breaking, flows that should have connected didn't, and every fix seemed to cause two new problems. He had a clear vision and a real product, but no way to get it over the finish line.
That's where I came in.
Starting with a full audit
Before writing a single line of new code, I audited the entire app, roughly 69,000 lines of it. I mapped every flow, traced every broken path, and gave Jake a clear picture of what was solid, what was fragile, and what needed rebuilding. That audit became our roadmap, and it turned a one-off review into an ongoing partnership.
Making the inbox the heart of the system
Yacht crews live in their email, and suppliers aren't going to log into a new portal. So we made Procursea work through the crew's own inbox. Users connect Gmail or Outlook, and the app sends RFQs and purchase orders directly from their real mailbox. When suppliers reply, Procursea reads the inbox, matches each reply to the right request, and uses AI to pull quotes and invoices out of emails and PDF attachments. The whole procurement system stays in sync without anyone typing a number twice.
Reading people's Gmail means meeting Google's highest security bar. We took the platform through Google's CASA Tier 2 security assessment, handling vulnerability scanning, remediation and encrypted token storage, and it passed.
Connecting everything else
With email working, we tied the rest of the operation together:
• Procurement: cart to RFQ, reusable templates, multi-supplier quoting, side-by-side comparison, approval routing, and auto-generated PO and invoice PDFs. • Inventory: crew photograph an item and AI identifies it. Items are pinned to their exact spot on the yacht's deck plans so anyone can find them later. • Budgets: department budgets update live as orders are approved and paid. If a payment is reversed, the budget rolls back automatically. • Crew and permissions: a full role system for Captains, Heads of Department, Crew and Management Companies, with per-department access. • Billing: Stripe subscriptions across Standard, Premium and Enterprise tiers, with seat limits and automatic handling of payment failures. • Suppliers: bulk import across Mediterranean ports, with duplicate detection and global search.
Along the way we moved all image storage to Cloudinary and built activity feeds, notifications, workflows, data export and an admin dashboard. Every screen was tested across iOS and Android.
Launch
Months of auditing, rebuilding and testing later, Procursea is finally launching. Jake went from a product that kept breaking to a platform that's secure, Google-verified, and ready for real yachts. https://procursea.app/ https://procursea.com/
