Briefing Huawei launched an international design competition to celebrate exciting designers and thinkers worldwide under the theme “Visionary Art.” A prestigious panel of experts judged the entries, including David Carson, Wang Ziyuan, Norito Shinmura, Tiger Pan, Liang Jun, Zhang Zhongyang and Liza Enebeis, to explore the future of mobile aesthetics for over 600 million Huawei users across 170+ countries and regions [1].

Challenge Among the four competition categories, the most demanding was Mobile Themes, which also carried the biggest prize. This category asked designers to create expressive, functional digital experiences that could work as everyday interfaces while still feeling like visionary artwork [1].

Concept “Of all the skills the planet has, this is the one it does best: spinning.” The project starts from this idea, questioning how absurd it is to imagine owning that orbital motion through man‑made technology, represented as a sculpted, three‑dimensional form. The visual language turns the act of being in orbit into something tactile, elegant, and slightly surreal [1].

Process & Execution Achieving the project’s signature “digital clay” aesthetic required advanced technical sculpting at a time when organic, clay-like textures were incredibly difficult to render in 3D. • Digital Sculpting: I manually sculpted every asset using ZBrush, crafting imperfect, tactile surfaces that felt handmade rather than computer-generated . • 3D Composition: These assets were then composed and animated in Cinema 4D, balancing realistic physics with a stylized, artistic look. Contrasting elements are composed to live in harmony, so every interaction feels intuitive and every decision feels easy. The interface flows with a sense of weightlessness and curiosity, as if gravity has been dialed down just enough to invite exploration.
