Overview

I edited a branded commercial for Columbia Sportswear focused on performance, durability, and real-world use.
The goal was simple: Make the product feel tested, trusted, and built for harsh conditions. No fluff. Just clarity and impact.

The Challenge

Outdoor brands live or die by authenticity.
This couldn’t feel like a polished ad detached from reality. It needed to feel like the gear had been through something.
At the same time, it still had to carry a premium, global brand standard.
Balance was key:
Raw vs refined
Energy vs control
Story vs product clarity

My Approach

1. Build around movement I structured the edit around motion and environment. Cuts follow action. Transitions feel physical, not decorative.
2. Let the footage breathe Not everything needs to be fast. I used contrast. Fast sequences against slower, grounded moments.
That’s what gives weight.
3. Sound design does half the work Wind, impact, fabric movement. Subtle layers that make the product feel real.
Music drives energy. Sound design adds texture.
4. Keep the brand front and center Every cut supports the product. No distractions. No unnecessary effects.
