For this project, I was responsible for building a complete, multi-page website for Palama Settlement, a community-focused nonprofit based in Honolulu. The website was developed in Breakdance Builder for WordPress, based on detailed designs provided in Figma. My goal was to ensure high design fidelity while delivering a fully functional, responsive site that meets the needs of the client and their audience.
Design Implementation & Development
Using the Figma file as a guide, I translated every page into Breakdance with close attention to layout, typography, spacing, responsiveness, and accessibility. Where Breakdance's native features were limited, I implemented custom CSS and JavaScript to achieve specific design and functional requirements—ensuring the final product reflected the original design vision without compromise.
Pages included:
A dynamic homepage
News & blog templates with category-based filtering
Program & service overviews
Calendars, contact forms, and resource sections
Responsive headers, footers, and navigation menus
Dynamic Content & Custom Development
I built reusable templates for blog posts, news updates, and events using custom loops and dynamic data, enabling the client to add new content easily through WordPress. I also included custom JavaScript features (such as category tabs and animated sliders) to enhance interactivity and user engagement.
Additional work included:
Breadcrumb navigation using parent/child categories
Scrollable tabbed navigation on mobile
Custom styling for sliders, buttons, and responsive grids
Read-time indicators for blog posts
Custom header behavior for mobile and desktop
Results & Value Delivered
The result was a modern, responsive, and highly customized website tailored specifically to the Palama Settlement’s mission and content. By using Breakdance efficiently and adding custom code where necessary, I was able to deliver a flexible and future-proof site that the client can manage independently moving forward.
Built a full multi-page website for Palama Settlement in Breakdance, matching the Figma design and using custom code where needed for full design accuracy.
