Faith Dolan

Creative Writer
a canvas of mixed colors
watches children pass by.
students from an artless district
led to more
practical,
worthy things.
the one who doodles in dancing hues
in abstractness,
in comparisons,
sees a scolding finger in their direction.
yet a pat on the back
once handed a 1st-place ribbon.
art is only as good as money can buy.
where, the high schooler whose fingers are covered in paint
rather than
math equations,
goes to his job at the grocery store
to help with the light bill,
he bags the groceries and hands it to a lady
she goes to her gated community
and naps in a living room covered in art from
pottery barn
