I love watching shows from across the globe, but American shows have been on the top as I've grown up watching them. So, I know exactly how you feel when you find a show that has a long episode list, and top that with seasons. One such show is 'The Vampire Diaries' with 171 episodes and 8 seasons.

Well, this is not all you need to put on schedule as apart from the 8 seasons and 171 episodes, Vampire Diaries has a spin-off 'The Originals', and 'The Originals' have a spin-off 'The Legacies'. Now ain't that just awesome! Oh! Can't forget to add Vampire Diaries- A Darker Truth and The Originals- The Awakening, both are part of the franchise. And, watching all is a must if you are a real fan.

A Darker Truth is a webisodes exclusively available on CWTV.com and follows Jason Harris (Matt Perello) as he investigates the murder of his sister, Joanne Harris. Jason follows Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) to Mystic Falls in Virginia. On investigating some videos he comes across some evidence of Stefan being a vampire. He also finds out Damon Salvatore (Stefan's brother) might be the murderer.

It premiered on August 25, 2009 till September 8, 2009 on CWTV.com.

The Vampire Diaries is a supernatural teen drama based on the popular book series by the same name written by L. J. Smith. The American series is developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec.

No spoilers! The series is set up in a fictional town called Mystic Falls in Virginia. The town has been charged with supernatural history since the 18th century after migrants from New England settled in. The story begins as Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), comes to town and falls in love with Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), who's actually a 162-year-old vampire. Along the way Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) appears who plans to resurrect their past love vampire Katherine Pierce (played by Dobrev again) who looks like Elena.

The conflict rises as both brothers begin to protect Elena from the threats and villains, including Katherine herself. And beginning the love triangle between them.

If Nina Dobrev reprises as Elena Gilbert, Paul Wesley as Stephan Salvatore, and Ian Somerhalder as Damon Salvatore, oh then will Season 9 reach the screens. Though the developer, Julie Plec, is quite interesting in a season spin-off. As always, season 8 had a glorious cliffhanger ending with exciting views and a marvelous demand for season 9. Though no official date is announced, and expectations were to see it soon.

Season 9 was a long anticipated season for the loyal fans as well. But now the chances are very bleek. Reason for this is the season Season 8 concluded itslef in its own terms. Then we have The Originals delving on the original story and The Legacies delving on the following characters, so Season 9 is almost a no possible.

The Originals is a supernatural fantasy series that was aired on The CW. It is the Vampire Diaries spin-off, and the first television series in the expansion list of the Vampire Diaries (parent series) franchise.

The pilot episode premiered on the CW on September 10, 2009, and the last episode aired on March 10, 2017 with a total of 171 episodes spanning eight seasons.

The Originals revolves around the three Mikaelson siblings: Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah (Claire Holt). The Mikaelson family is considered as "the Originals" cause they are said to be the first vampires to exist. The series is a mix of many important events like:

Klaus, son of a witch and werewolf, is on the quest to unleash his hybrid nature detailed in The Vampire Diaries.

The Originals: The Awakening is the only web series of the franchise, and has four episodes. The series ties in with the second season of The Originals.

The series explores Kol Mikaelson's history, and showcases the Mikaelson family back in 1914. Throughout the flashbacks you'll see him on a quest forming an alliance with the French Quarter witches to rival his brother, Niklaus Mikaelson.

Legacies is a fantasy drama television series that premiered on The CW. Legacies is a spin-off of The Originals and The Vampire Diaries is its predecessor. The series features characters from both the series.

Legacies follows Hope Mikaelson (Danielle Rose Russell) comprising her role as the daughter of Klaus Mikaelson and Hayley Marshall. The Legacies follows 17-year-old Hope in events that happened two years after The Originals, where she will attend The Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, where Supernatural beings can live a free life and learn how to control their abilities. The first episode aired on October 25, 2018 and till date has spanned four seasons.

Legacies Season 4 Hope had to choose between the boy she loves and ending Malivore's threat forever. The chloiced would ahve a life-changing consequence for the Super Squad and Alaric Saltzman. Through the entire turmoil the Salvatore School would be torn out.

Again the loyal fans of the Vampire Diaries franchise were again egerly waiting for the Legacies Season 5, but again they faced a broken heart. In May 2022, the plans for a Season 5 got cancelled. Unfourtnately the ratings have dropped which led to the cancelation. Seeing the lack of profits, the producers decided to put a plug on it. However story lines for Season 5 have been released time to time and the offical synopsis also reads as follows:

So, we can't sideline it completely. If the previous shows gain popularity and the demand for the next Season is strong from the fans side, possibility is the producers might release.
