Nebulae and Legends - A breath of organic design.

This was a series of organic artworks done with deep photomanipulation and other graphic design techniques. These 3 compositions sum over 15 hours of work and 303 layers with an extremely high density in pixels and resolution.

The inspiration behind the pieces came during the Christmas of 2023, I felt the urge to paint representations of the Sun and the Moon with an Hellenistic aesthetic where sculptures would be the main subject of the composition. Adding digital and futuristic effects was my personal touch in order to make it feel contemporary. Making an experimental use of typography and languages with different writing systems from Latin was the true challenge and fun behind this project.
The message I was trying to capture was the importance of these two celestial bodies to the universe while making it more tangible to understand by relating them to the social roles of a father and a mother. This cosmic duality carries profound symbolism that many cultures and individuals have studied over the last millenia, blending scientific curiosity with philosophical and spiritual interpretations.
The third piece emerged as a wildcard that shared the theme but did not connect directly to the others. The clever subliminal twist in the wordplay was nothing more than a cry from my unconscious, grappling with a particularly rough patch at the time - appropriately overcome through these creations.

The 1:2 Ratio

One of the biggest challenges I set for myself in this new project was to design within a completely different ratio from what I’ve used in the past. Working with a 1:2 ratio, where the effective canvas area was even smaller, presented an intriguing challenge. This context inspired me to incorporate lateral borders and explore depth by extending elements beyond the canvas, integrating these assets as integral parts of the composition.

Diana Ascends

Diana, Serene or The Moon was the true catalyst behind this project. Once I got started on it I knew I would have to refine it until I considered it perfect.
The Moon reflects the nurturing essence of the maternal archetype. Its gentle glow and cyclical phases echo a mother's care, intuition, and the nurturing rhythms of life. Just as the Moon influences tides, it subtly shapes the emotional and spiritual flows of existence.
My interpretation evokes the image of a female archer and a warrior, fiercely determined to go above and beyond for her offspring. She is as multi-faceted as she is resilient, enduring countless arrows that life relentlessly hurls her way.

Helio Ascends

My satisfaction with the results behind Diana took me to further explore the theme and work on an artwork that would present a dichotomy for the first subject. The Sun, then, came along in order to paint the canvas with warmer colors.
The Sun, with its unyielding radiance, represents the paternal archetype — a source of vitality, guidance, and constancy. Its light sustains life, much as a father's strength and presence provide stability and direction.
My interpretation paints the image of a defensor who, like the Greek Titan Atlas, who was known to carry a globe in his shoulders. He is as consistent as he is vital, enduring the weight of universal responsibilities in his stance.

Dragon

The third piece, which I titled "Dragon," emerged as a wildcard—closely aligned with the futuristic theme, yet bringing a unique blend of science and tradition, infused with space aesthetics.
Like a scratch on a page that opens a portal to a new dimension, this piece transports us to a galaxy where Greek pillars coexist with satellites. It seeks to bridge the nostalgic with the modern, creating a sense of suspended motion, as everything floats in orbit towards an artifact rather than being drawn into a black hole.
There’s something profound about a shared destination here—it also echoes a shared origin, blending the old with the new, the known with the unknown, the forgotten with what is still to be discovered. Dragon is perhaps both a cry for help amidst life’s complexities (Mayday) and a love letter to those who encounter it. (May you see yourself as I see you, one day.)

All resources used on this artwork were forever lost in the galaxy. Bummer.
