Project Summary

I built an analytics and lead tracking tag checker that detects common marketing tags and lead-capture signals on a page while making one caveat impossible to miss: tag presence does not prove conversion events are configured correctly.

The Problem

A lot of marketing reporting problems start with a false assumption: the tag is on the site, so tracking must be working. In reality, a GA4 tag can load while zero useful conversion events are configured.
For service businesses, tracking and lead capture need to be reviewed together. A page with analytics but no phone link or form is measuring visits it cannot convert. A page with forms but no analytics cannot trace leads back to marketing channels.

What I Built

HTML scan for GA4, Google Tag Manager, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, and other marketing tags
Lead-capture detection for tel links, contact forms, and live chat widgets
Results grouped by analytics, ad tracking, lead capture, and other tags
Plain-English caveat separating tag presence from proven event configuration
Technical details showing detected IDs and signals where available

Product Decisions

The core product decision was honesty. The tool acts as a first-pass check before a deeper analytics audit. It can tell a user whether obvious signals are present, but account-level verification is still required to prove events, conversions, and GTM triggers are firing correctly.

Result

This created a useful QA workflow for launch checks, audit intake, and conversations where a business owner says they have analytics but cannot tell which marketing is producing leads.
