Gulmil is a dating app I designed with the aim of creating a more intuitive, user-friendly experience for people seeking meaningful connections. The app focuses on simplifying the user interface, ensuring ease of use while maintaining a modern and inviting design. By blending usability with appealing aesthetics, I wanted to create a space where users could engage naturally and comfortably.

The primary objective was to design a dating app that stood out in a crowded market by offering a simpler, more personalized experience. I wanted to move away from the typical complex and overwhelming interfaces seen in many dating apps, focusing instead on seamless interactions that feel natural and foster authentic connections.

User-Friendly Navigation: The app features a clean and minimalistic design, allowing users to navigate effortlessly through the interface.

Personalized Profiles: Users can create detailed profiles with the ability to customize their preferences, ensuring they find more compatible matches.

Easy Messaging System: The messaging feature encourages meaningful conversations, keeping the interactions simple and focused.

Modern Aesthetics: The design utilizes vibrant yet subtle colors, attractive icons, and sleek typography, creating a contemporary yet approachable feel.

Research & Ideation: I began by researching existing dating apps, focusing on pain points like cluttered designs and overly complex features. I wanted to simplify the experience while still providing the necessary tools to foster connections.

Wireframing & Prototyping: I created initial wireframes to map out the app’s basic structure and flow. Following that, I developed interactive prototypes to test the user experience and make adjustments based on feedback.

UI Design: I refined the design with a focus on clean lines, spacious layouts, and intuitive iconography. The goal was to keep the app visually appealing without overwhelming the user with too many options at once

User Testing: After refining the design, I conducted user testing with a small group to identify any usability issues and make further refinements based on real feedback

The wireframing process was essential in translating initial concepts into structured layouts. I focused on creating intuitive navigation paths and ensuring that essential features were easily accessible to users. This iterative process allowed for quick adjustments based on feedback, ultimately laying the groundwork for the high-fidelity designs.

I began by moodboarding with visual cues from Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder. For the UI, I chose Neusa Next Std as the primary font to give the app a bold, modern personality. The main theme color, #FF2952, was selected for its vibrant, energetic feel—perfect for a dating app centered around connection and vibe. A consistent component system, smooth microinteractions, and accessible design choices ensured the app feels intuitive, stylish, and user-friendly across all screens.

Gulmil provides a fresh take on the traditional dating app experience, allowing users to connect more easily through a simple and engaging interface. The design successfully blends functionality with aesthetic appeal, offering a smooth and enjoyable experience from profile creation to meaningful conversations.
