0-10s EXT. HOUSE - DAY Young BLACK GIRL, MAYA, exits her modest home, gently shutting the door behind her. She scans the street and waves for a taxi. (The faint sound of an inaudible exchange between Maya and the DRIVER.)

10-20s EXT. BUILDING - LATER Maya arrives at a well-kept building and knocks on the door. The DOORMAN opens, smiling warmly.

DOORMAN Right on time, Maya.

MAYA Wouldn’t miss it. (The door closes behind her as she enters.)

20-25s INT. KITCHEN - DAY Maya walks into the spacious kitchen, takes her apron from a hook, and ties it around her waist. She sets to work with practiced precision, chopping carrots and preparing ingredients.

MAYA (to herself) Precision, patience... that’s the key.

25-35s INT. DINING ROOM - LATER Maya enters with a tray of perfectly plated food. The FAMILY is seated at the table: DAD, MOM, SON, DAUGHTER, and a BABY in a high chair. The kids' eyes light up at the sight of the meal.

MOM Another masterpiece, Maya. You’re spoiling us.

DAD (smiling) I'm not complaining.

The kids dig in eagerly.

DAUGHTER (mouth full) This is the best!

Maya watches, smiling proudly.

MAYA Glad you like it.

35-40s INT. KITCHEN - MOMENTS LATER Maya begins cleaning up in the kitchen before heading out the door. She exits the house, walking purposefully down the street. Slow music

45-55s FADE IN: INT. RESTAURANT KITCHEN - NIGHT Maya enters a bustling restaurant kitchen. Chefs move quickly, calling orders, and food sizzles on the stove. Maya ties her chef’s jacket with confidence, slipping into the fast-paced rhythm of the kitchen.

MAYA (to a fellow chef) Get the sauce on low, don’t let it burn.

She begins prepping, chopping and plating with expert skill.

55-60s FADE OUT: INT. RESTAURANT - CLOSING TIME - NIGHT The restaurant is nearly empty. The last few plates are cleared. Maya, now in her coat, exits the kitchen, her face filled with satisfaction.

MAYA (excited) We crushed it tonight!

She heads for the door, eager and energetic. Slow music

60-63s EXT. STREET - NIGHT Maya walks briskly down the street, pulling out her phone to check the time. Slow background music

63-90s INT. HOUSE - NIGHT Maya enters her home, closing the door softly behind her. She walks over to a small desk, where a Chef Playbook sits. She picks it up and flips through the pages, her fingers brushing over notes and recipes.

MAYA (softly, to herself) Tomorrow’s the day... I'll take it to the next level.

She closes the book, nods to herself, and places it on the desk, ready for the journey ahead.
