I completed a packaging design project for a matchstick company based in India. The project involved creating a visually appealing and market-oriented packaging solution for their launch. The selling point of this match company was that they were big on sustainability. They did not cut a single tree for their manufacturing process but used scrap and recycled wood.
Here is my entire process.
Client Briefing: I initiated the project with a detailed briefing session with the client to understand their brand identity, target audience, and specific design preferences for the packaging.
Research and Analysis: Conducted thorough market research to identify current design trends, competitor packaging strategies, and consumer preferences. This step laid the foundation for a design that stands out in the market. Since it was an Indian market, I was heavily inspired by the vintage typography from the 1980s that was commonly used in India signage and billboards to provide a sense of nostalgia and warmth to the audience.
Concept Development: I presented multiple design concepts, considering the client's input and market research findings. My primary focus was on creating a cohesive and visually striking packaging design that communicates the product's key features and brand values.
Feedback and Revisions: I collaborated closely with the client to gather feedback on the initial design concepts. I incorporated revisions and fine-tuned the selected concept based on the client's preferences, ensuring alignment with the brand's visual language.
Finalization and Mockups: Delivered the finalized packaging design in various formats, providing the client with mockups for a realistic preview of how the design would appear in the physical retail environment.
