International Trucks' vehicles have almost endless customization possibilities - and that's where we come in. A desktop and mobile web experience that helps customers to build their ideal truck themselves.

A responsive website that showcases the multitude of configurations available within International Trucks.

The Problem

Buying vehicles (or a fleet of vehicles) is a very specific process involving many parts that customers of the International Trucks brand may find daunting or confusing.

The Goal

The goal of this product is to make the custom truck buying process clear and completely in the hands of the customer. Our hope is that dealership owners and drivers are able to have a complete and accurate image of the exact vehicle they would like to drive.

What is already here?

My main responsibility with this project is to maintain the existing Style Guide and Design System as new user data emerges and new features are added.

User Research

User research for this project mainly consists of informal user interviews.

1. Logo Placement

Users want an indicator in order to reposition their logo on the door panel, leaving it up to them how it appears on the truck.

2. More Colors

Seasoned customers of International Trucks know that they can customize the paint color of their build to nearly any color on the spectrum, and want a way to view this option in the Configurator. We made this poosible by including an expanded color palette option.

3. Presentation Builder Functionality

User feedback indicated that user often need to use these configurations in business presentations, so we created a functionality that allows prospective customers to download a presentation that reflects each choice they have made while building in the configurator. This presentation is a downloadable and customizable pdf or powerpoint presentation.

Ongoing Revision

As International Trucks begins offering new features and updated parts for their builds, we will continue to evolve the Configurator according to user needs.

Personal Growth

This project involves designing to a brand and existing design system. Through working on additional features, I was challenged to stick to an established "look" and design new features that would look like they had always belonged there. In speaking with real users of the site, I was able to gain valuable data to iterate on my designs in a way that would improve use among customers and create an overall more enjoyable user experience.
