Communities Driving Change

Communities Driving Change is a project coordinated by Contextos (Cooperativa para o Desenvolvimento e Coesão Social CRL in Faro, Portugal) and focused on empowering the common citizen, providing digital tools to allow the expression of needs and opinions, reinforce their civic role and participation with solutions in an info-inclusive way in local communities using several field activities that will gradually raise the voice of local citizens to its public institutions, improve the quality of information that reaches out political decision-makers through the support of IT knowledge-based platforms or tools.



When I finished my work as a volunteer in Contextos, Jorge Machado got in contact with me. "We have a need project and we need to create the visual identity, just like you did with DigitArt", I read about the project and I confirmed my participation, so we just had a meeting and started to create a new concept for their visual identity.





First of all, I started with 3 different concepts. Finally, after our second meeting, we decided to go with the second one. Why? Because it was simple but meaningful. This concept plays with the letters of the innitials of the project: CDC and creates a shape which negative shape is a Joystick. Yes, a Joystick. This project gives the citizen digital tools to be able to drive the change, as the name of the project says. So we though that this sutil Joystick shape was a good way to visually define the concept of the project, mixed with the gradient that goes from blue to orange, representing change.

The scope of the project included the Visual Identity Brand Book, inlcuding the logo, colors and typography, some merch design, poster, event invitation, brochure, social media assets, roll-up banner, pocket folder, event badge and a power point and word template. In order to use them during the different events that will take place within the project duration.
