In a world where we’re (or maybe it’s just me) constantly looking for the ‘why’, it can be frustrating to feel like your body cannot keep up with the busy beings of the world. And perhaps even more frustrating to try to seek answers but still feel faced with so many unanswered questions as to why you have that constant back pain or headaches.
This is not me saying in any situation you should not be seeking medical advice if you are experiencing pain… please do seek out medical care! [I am not a medical professional]
It’s really likely that at some point in your life you have experienced emotional stress that has caused a tummy ache or your heart beat going really fast when you’ve felt nervous or your jaw clench up when you’ve felt angry. These are smaller examples of how our bodies can manifest physical pain as a result of emotional pain, which are also known as somatic symptoms. We can get into this deeper another day…
Today, instead, I want to share with you a recent experience I had with a client who came to me with deep worry around the physical pains they had been experiencing in their body. This is an area that I can relate to heavily after being given the fibromyalgia stamp from my doctor in late 2020 after countless tests and no probable answers to my own pain. With many news tools in my toolbox, it’s something that I have been able to control so much better in my daily life, but am very much aware now of just how impactful my emotions are on my body and on those flare ups that I still experience from time to time.
My client also carried their own self awareness to this session and with that the desire to focus on tapping into that physical pain in order to release it. Hypnosis can be such a powerful tool for us to feel strong emotions in our bodies and be able to link back to the stories and memories of the times in our lives where those emotions and pain were overwhelming.
Our session began with an intention to be open to exploring whatever stories that were tied to this pain, to break the pattern of the body being all too familiar with this painful stress response in order to invite in a lighter energy to the body.
During our session they were able to connect the physical discomfort with some key memories that were tied to emotionally painful life events that were keeping them stuck.
They found a way to actually appreciate and acknowledge how the body has responded in this way to keep them safe before taking the steps to invite that pain to leave.
And she found a new narrative of building deep self trust in her body to feel more connected to her heart and intuition.
It was truly such a powerful session that is hard to put into words just how great they felt at the end of it.
