Splice — Studio Tour ft. Kris Bowers Post-Production Editorial
There are composers and then there are storytellers who happen to write music. Kris Bowers is the latter.
Splice brought me in to edit this studio tour inside Kris's Los Angeles workspace, and the footage matched the resume. Grammy and Emmy winning, Academy Award nominated, and responsible for some of the most emotionally resonant scores in recent cinema. Wild Robot, The Color Purple, Green Book, King Richard, Bridgerton. The kind of filmography that earns a serious room.
Editing a studio tour for a film composer is a different creative challenge than editing one for a music producer. The gear matters, but the story is really about process and perspective. How does someone move between classical orchestration and contemporary sound design? How do you score a scene that needs to make an entire theater feel something without saying a word? Kris has thoughtful, articulate answers to all of it, and the edit was built to give those moments the weight they deserved.
The pacing stayed deliberate throughout, unhurried enough to let the stories behind the scores breathe. When he talks about what goes into a Hollywood production at that level, you want the viewer locked in, not waiting for the next cut.
For music platforms, film studios, and content brands commissioning premium editorial and video production work, this project reflects the kind of care and craft that high profile talent deserves on screen. Editing content featuring Academy Award nominated composers, Grammy winners, and major film industry figures requires a director and editor who understands both the creative and the stakes involved.
