I conducted cross-browser testing of a website to ensure its compatibility and consistent performance across different web browsers. This involved thorough testing of the website's functionality, layout, and visual elements across popular browsers such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Safari, and others.
To start with, I compiled a list of target browsers based on the website's target audience and market share. This list helped me prioritize the browsers for testing and ensure maximum coverage across different platforms and versions.
Next, I set up a test environment that included virtual machines, cloud-based services, or physical devices, depending on the project requirements. This allowed me to simulate various browser configurations and operating systems without the need for multiple physical machines.
Using testing frameworks or tools, such as Selenium WebDriver or Cypress, I automated the test cases to expedite the testing process. This involved creating scripts that interacted with the website's elements and verified its behavior on different browsers. I used the frameworks' capabilities to launch the website on each browser, perform actions like clicking buttons, filling out forms, and validating expected results.
In addition to automation, I also performed manual testing to ensure a comprehensive evaluation. I manually explored the website on each browser, verifying its responsiveness, compatibility with different screen resolutions, and adherence to web standards.
Throughout the testing process, I carefully documented any inconsistencies, bugs, or visual discrepancies encountered on specific browsers. This information was then shared with the development team for further investigation and resolution.
To further streamline the cross-browser testing process, I leveraged cloud-based testing platforms, such as Browser Stack or Sauce Labs. These platforms provided a wide range of real browser configurations and devices, enabling me to test the website on a vast array of combinations without the need for extensive local infrastructure.
Once the testing was completed, I generated detailed test reports that outlined the test coverage, identified browser-specific issues, and provided actionable insights for the development team. These reports helped in prioritizing bug fixes, optimizing the website's performance, and ensuring a consistent user experience across different browsers.
Overall, my cross-browser testing efforts aimed to validate the website's compatibility, functionality, and visual consistency across multiple browsers, ensuring a seamless experience for users, regardless of their preferred browser choice some of the websites i have worked on : Websites
