Led a mixer study to compare different mixers making foams. The results of the study helped to direct Dow's investment towards one of the mixers to meet the increased demand for the foam product.
Sustainability is certainly a buzzword in the media today and nowhere is that more prevalent in the electric vehicle industry. Demand for EVs is slated to increase over the next few years and as more EVs enter the market, more consumers will scrutinize the safety features. The battery pack in particular has been known to overheat and explode, due to short circuits, malfunctions, etc.
To make EVs safer, Dow has produced a silicone foam that goes in between the batteries in a battery pack, so that if one battery overheats, the foam acts as an insulator and prevents the heat from spreading, giving time for passengers to escape.
In conjunction with Dow, I led a study that compared two different mixers used to make the foams. Dow plans to install more mixers to meet increased demand and wants to install the best mixer that will meet as many business needs as possible.
I designed a study to compare the foams produced from each mixer. I presented the results of the study to stakeholders in the project and wrote a report documenting my findings.
