Holocaust revisionism is a theory based on the denial or distortion of the Nazi genocide of European Jews. This theory stems from an antisemitic viewpoint, which is a hatred or prejudice against Jewish people. Usually, people who follow this theory, "claim that the Holocaust was invented or exaggerated by Jews as part of a plot to advance Jewish interests" ("Antisemitism and Holocaust Denial"). This group of people formed just as the truth about what the Germans did to Jewish people came out. Many of the followers were Germans who lived in Germany at the time of the Holocaust. Though there are still groups all around the world today who don't believe the Holocaust happened. Not all Holocaust deniers will go out of their way to spread hate speech. Some keep this view silent to themselves probably to stray from the backlash that would likely be given.
