Edible Landscaping Project: Primary school in Galicia-Spain

Rubén Navarro

Due to the aging population and the pursuit of a better quality of life, it is important to enhance living spaces for children and adolescents. In the first phase, the focus will be on transforming the outdoor area for early childhood education, harnessing its natural potential. The project aims to promote nature, coexistence, and participation as fundamental pillars. Various resources and areas will be created to foster interaction, learning, and assessment by teachers. Furthermore, continuous evaluation will be carried out to adapt to changing needs.
Elevated cultivation beds will be implemented, constructed with a perimeter of coconut fiber rolls and filled with cultivation substrate sourced from the school's kitchen. The perimeter of the fence will be planted with edible climbing varieties, and a willow tunnel will be installed as a magical corner for children.
