Derealization Experience Poster Design

This poster's aesthetics were inspired by two graphic designers, Borguniho who uses gradient maps to create similar colour effects and BakaArts, who specialises in making surreal visuals based on science fiction concepts. The poster was designed in Adobe Photoshop with the intention of capturing the experience of 'derealization', spelt using the American variant on the poster as the client was American.
The client supplied the stock image featuring the planets and specified that they wanted to capture the feeling of derealization, specifically the experience of being in two places at once (present in your body and an observer of said body). I worked very closely with the client to best achieve their vision. The eye at the top-centre of the poster was incorporated to represent the idea of being both the watched and the watcher. The wireframe man, whose form bends itself between the two textures/realities gives a sense of anonymisation to the experience. The planets and sphere shape surrounding him hint at the out-of-body feeling often described by people who experience 'derealization.'  The text was the final piece of the design, modelled after the pronunciation and classification given by Google when the word 'derealization' is searched.
