Tax Registration Platform for US Businesses

A client approached me to design a platform that simplifies tax registration and filing for US businesses and their accountants.

Tax registration in the US is notoriously complex. Different entity types, state-level variations, filing deadlines, and compliance requirements create a maze that even experienced accountants find frustrating. The goal was to turn this into a guided, intuitive experience.

I spent significant time on desk research: reading through IRS documentation, understanding entity classification (LLC, S-Corp, C-Corp, sole proprietorship), and mapping out the registration workflows state by state. This wasn't a domain I could fake my way through. The UI had to reflect real regulatory logic.

Using FigJam, I mapped user flows and decision trees before moving into high-fidelity screens in Figma.

This project is under NDA, so I can only share 2 screens. But they represent the core interaction pattern: guiding users through complex multi-step processes without overwhelming them.
