What is Beta Reading?

One of the biggest fears that writers have is whether or not people will like their books. After years of blood, sweat, and ink that authors pour into their creations, they know that it would nothing short of devasting if their story was rejected by the masses. That's where a good beta reader comes in.

Beta readers are bibliophiles, like myself, who can pinpoint where a story is lacking, where it's great, and where a writer needs to push themselves. Whether it's character developments, story arcs, or something as simple as suggesting name changes, beta readers will look at each and every detail of your book before you publish it.

I specifically like to go through each and every paragraph and line of a book and write constructive comments. Afterward, I write a 2-5 page essay on the book overall. As a writer, avid reader, and daughter of a published author, I am determined to encourage each and every writer to feel proud of their creations.
