Overview

Morii is a BeReal-esque social media application designed to promote gratitude by allowing users to capture three moments daily with photos and voice memos, selecting one to post at the end of the day. The project followed the Goal-Directed Design (GDD) method, as taught in Kennesaw State University's Interaction Design class.

Concept

Objective: Help users cultivate gratitude by documenting joyful moments.
Process: Users take three photos daily, add a voice memo for context, and post one photo each evening to interact with friends' posts.

Design Process

1. Research Phase:
Conducted literature reviews, competitive audits, stakeholder assumptions, and user interviews.
Insights were organized through affinity mapping, identifying themes like the importance of photo documentation and challenges with gratitude practices.
2. Modeling Phase:
Defined a primary persona, Presley Parker, based on user research.
Established end goals, like simplifying gratitude practices and sharing moments meaningfully.
3. Requirements Phase:
Defined problem/vision statements and created a context scenario illustrating user interactions.
Developed design requirements ensuring alignment with Presley’s goals.
4. Frameworks Phase:
Wire framed and validated both key path (daily interactions) and validation scenarios (less frequent tasks).
5. Refinement Phase:
Conducted usability testing and implemented feedback, including clearer functionality after 8 p.m. with a dark mode transition and enhanced home screen clarity for photo uploads.

Results

Through Goal-Directed Design, the team developed a mobile prototype emphasizing simplicity and alignment with user goals, achieving an engaging experience. By focusing on our persona’s goals throughout, we created a smoother and more intuitive app experience, making users happier.
