Ocean Ethos Design Competition

Ocean Ethos is a student design competition that brings young designers together to innovate for ocean restoration.

Not only do participants have the opportunity to win money for project grants, all participants gain industry and employment visibility simply by participating.

The Ocean Ethos website is a personal adaptation of a partnership project done during my studies in design school.

I decided to follow a deep sea vibe for branding, to stand out from other ocean activism projects.

The logo is inspired by a sexton, the tool used by sailors to navigate the stars.

The fun part of the project was encouraging public engagement by creating a social media style section of the website where public users can like and rank their favorite projects.

Bringing public engagement increases visibility for the students and general activism education for the public.

After ranking your favorite projects, you can submit your vote to the Ocean Ethos Foundation, where a special "People's Award" will be given to the project with the most votes, even if the project isn't ranked by the panel of judges.
